Flora and fauna rehabilitation as demonstration of the practical implementation of state environmental policy on biodiversity at the local level
The main mission of the project is flora and fauna rehabilitation in Lugansk region through implementation of state environmental policy on biodiversity at the local level. The project is going to achieve its objective by conducting a series of scientific researches on distribution of rare, endemic, relict and endangered species of plants and animals in the Lugansk region. Field trips/expeditions will be conducted in order to take account of rare species of plants and animals. As a result, information will be collected and subsequently transferred to a GIS format. On the basis of this information scientists will develop maps of areas with high concentration of rare species. Scientists will gather all created maps into one scientific publication so-called Atlas. Also the scientific study information and maps will be incorporated into on-line recourse. On the basis on this study scientists will develop proposals on creation of new protected areas or broaden existing ones.
