Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

The project will help create larger scale production of cerrado products along with adequate sanitary conditions for social ecological coffee breaks as well as widening product availability in small markets in the city, these activities will have direct impact on the communities who provide the Central do Cerrado with raw material.

Capacity - Building Component

The project will work in improving infrastructure, equipment installation, acquiring of materials, and developing of adequate sanitary condition required by the market, commercial strategies and hiring new staff members.

Project Results

The porject focused on improving marketing capacity of 30 associations and cooperatives, all composed by smallolders, indigenous groups, quilombolas, babaçu crackers and other marginalized groups.
Main indicators are:
- 50,000 hectares of avoided deforestation in the Cerrado biome;
- 1,000 liters of pequi oil, 1,000 l of macaúba oil and 1,000 of babaçu oil commercialized;
- 2014 gross income generated USD 200.000
- By participating in the #CerradoVivo movement, the project has joined the Festival Gastronomico Cerrado Week, which means that many restaurants from brasilia should promote cerrado's products
