Developing a Conservation and Community Development Plan for Galibi
The main purpose of this planning grant is do a complete inventory of current and past projects in the indigenous community of Galibi. Information obtained from this inventory will lay the foundation for the formulation of an actual project proposal, to be submitted to the GEF SGP Suriname. Galibi is situated in the estuary zone of the Marowijne River and plays a key role in the conservation of Leatherback and Green Seaturtles; the Galibi beaches are the largest nesting sites for leatherbacks.
