Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
Although the design of the project focuses on experienced male fishers, the implementation of the project will have the participation of women from each community. Women will be integral in the food preparation for each of the workshops. The elder daughters of each fisher will be invited to participate in each workshop and they will be allowed to have equal participate rights. Furthermore, the sons of each fisher will be invited to attend each workshop and be given an opportunity to share their experiences about fishing.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
During each workshop, BFCA will have a person responsible to take short videos and photographs to document the activities of the workshops. The secretary of the Association will be responsible to document the comments and suggestions provided by the fishers that participate at each workshop. The information will be used to develop a comprehensive report, which will be circulated to local NGOs, partners and interested parties. The management committees of the three fishing cooperatives will inform its membership about the project during their respective Annual General Meeting. It is expected that the lessons learned will be used to improve the practices of BFCA and to develop related project proposals.
