Building capacity of Ilmamusi CFA for enhanced conservation of Mukogodo forest
The project aims at enhancing livelihoods for communities living near the Mukogodo forest through sustainable conservation of the land scape.
The project objectives are:
To enhance the livelihood of the communities living near the Mukogodo forest through sustainable conservation of the landscape for the availability of environmental goods and services.
To strengthen the institutional capacity for sustainable conservation and management of natural resources.
To conserve wildlife and improve livelihood through sustainable income generating activities while minimizing human wildlife conflict.
Develop and put good structures that can promote tourism in mukogodo forest.
To increase public awareness and sensitize the communities about the provisions in the new constitution and especially the 2005 forest act and also importance of new devolved government.
Enhanced conservation of the rare endemic and threatened plants and animals’ species and their natural habitats.
To promote research, monitoring and education for better understanding of the mukogodo landscape and its value.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
10 training sessions for staff, committee and members will improve their capacity on biodiversity and conservation. There will be increase institutional capacity will be enhanced and the monitoring and reporting on the forest status will be improved.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
1000 brochures and 500 newsletters will be produced. There will be 12 community outreach education programs.
