Renewable energy as a benefit for green agriculture
Renewable energy as a benefit for green agriculture
This project aims to create a model for the sustainable use of renewable energy sources via demonstration and popularization of fruits, herbs and forest products multifunctional solar dryers in rural areas of Lugansk region. The project has two equally important components. The environmental component includes the demonstration of renewable energy sources use as an alternative practice that contributes to the reduction of CO emissions through application of best European practices. This innovative practice will accelerate the use of energy saving techniques to mitigate climate change. The second component is socio-economic. The popularization and use of multifunctional SDs in rural areas of Lugansk region will enable to use renewable energy sources on household level, thus delivering economic and environmental benefits. Finally, this project will contribute to the empowerment of local women and youth.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Limited awareness on contemporary energy saving mechanisms on household and industrial level inherited from Soviet past can be addressed by learning and demonstration that are parts of this project. This initiative has enough driving mechanisms to ensure dissemination and sustainability, and in wider aspect it has enough mechanisms to grow into sound commercial projects. Since this project is composed of two equally important parts – learning and experiencing, therefore raising public awareness and responsiveness on the issue is a major part of it. This will be achieved by roundtables, seminars and trainings organization, dissemination of materials developed, web site updating, publications in mass media.
Notable Community Participation
The community members will be actively involved throughout the different stages of the project implementation and participatory monitoring.
