Climate Change Mitigation through installation of household bio gas plants
Climate Change Mitigation through installation of household bio gas plants
It is a community based group on the western side of Mt. Kenya. The group will partner with several initiatives to promote renewable energy in order to mitigate environmental degradation, reduce carbon emissions and enhance carbon sequestration. This will be done through construction of fixed dome biogas plants in 51 households. Community members will also be required to plant trees seedlings.
The project aims to enhance livelihood activities and to increase the community's participation in climate change mitigation trough synthesizing and building on local experiences to bridge the gap between local situation and international policy frameworks. It will also support local programmes. The installation of household bio gas plants, promotion of renewable energy and planting of trees will contribute to the 10% (per global standards) of land under tree cover.
