ntegrated Land Reclamation and Preservation Technology in Bode Saadu, Moro LGA, Kwara State
The project will organize environmental education and training of about 200 farmers and women on melon shelling and Calabash farming/vendor as alternative source of energy. Reforestation through local planting of trees by farmers and non-farmers in the community will be carried out. An average of 2000 economic trees will be planted. And preservation technology called terracing will be done on the farmlands and the landscape to slow down erosion. A land management committee will set up to conduct environmental education using behavior communication change strategies to enhance sustainabilityBode Saadu is a community of about 100, 000 people who are mainly farmers. The community, majorly women makes revenue from firewood resulting in deforestation and threat to wildlife. Farmlands and landscape have been degraded due to poor management system.
