Enhancing the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Biodiversity to Improve Livelihoods in Aguacate Village.
The goal of the project is to improve the livelihoods of the residents of Aguacate village through the conservation and sustainable use of the biodiversity resources within the Aguacate area.
Aguacate has approximately 85 square kilometers of communal land and about 50 per cent of this is comprised of steep mountains that are not suitable for farming. Our landscape offers abundant flora and fauna and rich cultural resources. This bio-diverse environment is fostered by a tropical broadleaf forest within the upper reaches of the Moho River watershed. There are numerous species of plants and wildlife along with caves and waterfalls that are ideal for ecotourism.
