Bankable Integrated Farming
Bankable Integrated Farming
GOAL
Utilizing Agricultural Waste To Support Environmentally Friendly Agricultural Integration In Order To Create Bankable Small Scale Farming

OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Agricultural & Energy Sectors
Indicators : 1. The reduction of at least 50% chemical fertilizer usage and application of farming practices that are more environmentally friendly.
2. The reduction of at least 30% cane grass usage as cattle feed and substitute it with agricultural waste silage such as straw, corn stalks and cocoa skin.
3. The reduction of at least 80% fossil fuel usage for daily cooking needs in the households
4. The reduction of at least 15% fossil fuel consumption for daily lighting purposes in the households.
5. The reduction of burning practices of straw/wood sticks/cocoa waste in the plantation/paddy field up to 80%.
Activities : 1. Mentoring and developing cow manure biogas digester.
2. Mentoring and application of agricultural waste silage such as straw, corn stalks and cocoa skins as cattle feed.
3. Training, mentoring and application of organic fertilizers based on either liquid or solid biogas in their own farming lands.

Objective 2 : The Increase of Communities' Incomes
Indicators : 1. Communities' organic fertilizers businesses which based on biogas either solid or liquid fertilizer runs.
2. The reduction of at least 80% communities' expense for fuel.
3. The reduction of at least 15% communities' expense for lighting.
4. The reduction of at least 50% communities' expense for farming purposes, such as chemical fertilizer.
5. The reduction of at least 20% communities' expenses for cattle feed such as cane grass.
6. The maximization of communities' farming scale through banking finance.
Activities : 1. Facilitating and business execution of solid fertilizer based on biogas.
2. Facilitating and business execution of liquid fertilizer based on biogas.
3. Facilitating and facilitating bank credit to optimize farming scale.
4. Facilitating and facilitating bank credit for biogas development.

Objective 3 : The Improved Quality of Environment and Sanitation
Indicators : 1. The increase of caged cows (the cows usually are not caged) for at least 3 cows.
2. The reduction of respiratory infected diseases due to smog either because of burning woods for cooking or burning agricultural waste in the plantation or paddy field.
3. The reduction of malaria and similar diseases caused by insects/flies/ mosquitoes that breed around cow dungs.
Activities : 1. Dissemination and Facilitating of cows penning.
2. Constructing biogas digester.
Objective 4 : Monitoring and Evaluation
Indicators : 1. The smooth flow of documentation and reporting activities through Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E), and the achievement of activities objectives, i.e. the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture & energy sectors, the increase of communities' incomes and the improved quality of environmnet and sanitation.
2. Documentation and reporting referred to GEF SGP standards.
Activities : 1. Report Verification
Verification of activities development based on documentation, progress reports and final project report that is going to be written.
2. On-Site Verification
Verification of activities development through field visits to project sites which are 'Arjuna' & 'Sipakainga' farmers group in Benteng TelluE Village, Rajawali' farmers group in Manpotu Village, Amali Subdistrict, Bone District, South Sulawesi Province.
3. Training and Workshops

EXPECTED OUTPUT
1. Utilization of biogas for fertilizer, cooking and lighting.
2. Application of environmentally friendly agriculture by using waste from livestock and farming.
3. Enabling bankable small scale farming.
4. Diversification and increase of farmers' income.
5. Improved environmental sanitation.
6. Utilization of animal dung as renewable energy.

PARTICIPANTS AND/OR PROJECT BENEFICIARIES
Direct : 73 members of farmers' group of Arjuna, Sipakainga and Rajawali.
Indirect : 30 farmers' groups having had biogas but have not yet implemented integrated farming, farmers as user of cheap and good fertilizer, banking institutions as farmer's groups debtor.
