Anoa Conservation in Community-based Forest Management
GOAL
Encouraging parties’ involvement in the planning of sustainable village forest management, making surrounding communities prosper, enhancing biodiversity.

OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : To assess anoa conservation at Labbo’s & Pattaneteang’s village forest
Indicator : The understanding of related parties about the concepts of anoa conservation
Activities : 1. Village Discussion – village forest, community & anoa conservation plan
To explore anoa’s protection plan, community interest & village forest management, involving participation from village forest management parties, village government, Village Council (BPD) and community leaders, representatives from village forest cultivators, BALANG and FKKM. It will be held in Labbo’s village hall, Pattaneteang’s village hall .
2. Interviewing the parties about anoa and its conservation efforts
To explore knowledge, experience and understanding of the parties about anoa & its conservation efforts, involving participation from people who interact with anoa and its habitat, Bantaeng village government, Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), academics/expert from Hassanudin University (UNHAS).
3. Field Observation – anoa’s habitat & its protection block in village forest
To observe and learn anoa’s habitat in village forest area, engange participation from team of village forest management, village forest cultivators and BALANG. It will be carried out in Labbo’s and Pattaneteang’s village forest
Objective 2 : To build same-understanding from the parties about combased anoa conservation participatory planning
Indicator : Joint-plans of community-based anoa conservation
Activities : Community Workshop – management plan of village forest & anoa conservation. To explore shared-understanding of the parties about anoa conservation plan in the village forests, involving participation from Village Forest Management, Village Government & BPD, Department of Forestry and Plantation of Bantaeng Regency, Dept of Tourism of Bantaeng Regency, Regional Environmental Center, Government and Parliament of Bantaeng, Academics/expert from UNHAS, BKSDA of South Sulawesi, BALANG, FKKM, TLKM and village forest discussion forum.
EXPECTED OUTPUT
Anoa conservation plan in the village forests which is community based and supported by the parties.

Direct : 1. Community in Labbo and Pattaneteang village, Tompobulu district : Labbo village 3.173 inhabitants which consists of 883 households (741 of men and 142 of women as head of households) with male population of 1.529 persons and female population of 1.644 persons. Pattaneteang village is 1.992 inhabitants, consists of 974 males and 1.018 females, Labbo’s village forest management, Pattaneteang’s village forest management, Village forest discussion forum
Indirect : Community in Bantaeng Regency, Village government of Bantaeng Regency, Department of Forestry and Plantation of Bantaeng Regency, Regional Environmental Center, Department of Tourism of Bantaeng Regency, Provincial government of South Sulawesi, Community in South Sulawesi province, Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of South Sulawesi, BPDAS Jeneberang Walanae, Forestry Faculty of Hasanuddin University/UNHAS, Community Forestry Services Team/TLKM, Community Forestry Communication Forum/FKKM, NGO and other enviromentalist institutions
