Supporting citizen participation in the review of the Forests Act for improved forest governance
Kenya Forests Working Group (EAWLS) will manage this proposal, whose goal is a responsive Forests Act developed through a consultative process, with adequate stakeholder input, spurring growth of the forest sector shall be implemented over a 14 months period by KFWG, with KFS, and the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife as partners. The purpose is to deliver a sound Forests Act by facilitating an inclusive and negotiation - based review process. The project has three objectives; Catalyze the general public’s interest and informed participation at national level in the review of the Forests Act 2005 through a sensitization campaign; increased stakeholder participation in the Forest Act review process at regional level and, Generate researched information to inform the review process. The logical framework captures proposed actions, expected results, objectively verifiable indicators (OVI), means of verification (MOV) and assumptions. The use of funds shall be guided by the budget herein provided. The nature of community support will entail mileage and staff time contribution from KFWG. KFWG will in addition support implementation of selected activities as indicated in the budget.
