River Ethiope Source Restoration and Protection at Umuaja, Ukwani LGA, Delta State
The project aims to document and reverse the problems of land degradation, pollution run-off, deforestation, biodiversity destruction, spring water destruction, poor environmental awareness,/domestic/human wastes management facing the source of River Ethiope at Umuaja Community. The major activities to be carried include baseline study of the source of the river, Community mobilization and awareness creation, Procurement and planting of about 2000 seedlings of trees, development of sustainable alternative livelihoods, restoration of damaged springs with stones, community hygiene and sanitation education, Production of a 5-year Community Development plan, capacity building workshops on watersheds protection, publication of monthly two pages community environmental education bulletin,
