Biodiversity rehabilitation of the forest ecosystem in Polissya area
The main objectives of the project is to combat climate change, rehabilitate degradated forest ecosystem and maintain viable populations of Red book species in natural surroundings in Rivne oblast by creating three in-situ conservation areas. Raising public awareness, capacity building and improving the environmental education of youth are important parts of the project.
Description of activities: - plant 1230 trees of 40 natural habitats; - provide environmental classes with energy-saving equipment; - conduct ecological camp for schoolchildren dedicated to the International Day of Biodiversity; - plant trees by schoolchildren within the CBD international campaign “Green Wave”; - create an official website that will encourage to preserve diversity and combat climate change, build the network of environmentally-conscious communities; - organize official presentation of the in-situ areas attracting attention of communities and mass media to the problems of climate change and biodiversity protection.
