This planning grant will support the local community in the Pusugrunu area (Matawai Maroon tribe) to develop a project proposal to further support the local community to develop economic activities in this area for especially the women who are active in the agriculture.

Gender Focus
Agroforestry is an activity for the women, this has been a tradition in the Maroon culture for centuries. This project will thus focus mainly on women.
Notable Community Participation
In this planning grant, at least 3 community meetings will be organized, in which the community should be able to discuss possible alternatives to develop agroforestry in their area. The community will be the one to determine the scope of the actual project proposal (full grant).
