PROMOTION OF COST EFFECTIVE AND ENERGY EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY IN BAFUT AND TUBAH SUB DIVISIONS, MEZAM DIVISION, NORTH WEST REGION OF CAMEROON.
The project aims at reducing energy related CO2 emissions through the promotion of the widespread use and application of low greenhouse gas emitting and cost – effective energy technologies in low income households, communities and institutions in Tubah and Bafut Sub Divisions in Mezam Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. Specifically the project aims at reducing energy related CO2 emissions by promoting renewable and low greenhouse gas energy emitting technologies as a substitute for the heavy dependence on fuel wood, kerosene and candles in the project zone to meet energy needs for cooking, lighting and income generation. About 450 house holds in the project area will be using renewable in December 2014 as a result of this project. The direct reduction in GHG emissions have been estimated to around 11.857 tons in 2015. Co2 reduction per litre of kerosene has been estimated at 3.2kg base on an average 10 litres of kerosene savings per months per household. The total amount of Co2 avoided is 11,857 tons.

The project is located in Bafut and Tubah Sub-Division where poverty is characterized by the absence of basic infrastructure, modern forms of energy and inadequate health services as well as suffering potable water and transport shortages. The project targets women who are the main income –generating group in these areas, the least knowledgeable members of these communities, electronics technicians and technical instructors of technical colleges located in Bafut and Tubah Sub – Divisions.
