Collecting non-liquid and remaining wood for producing alternative fuel
Collecting non-liquid and remaining wood for producing alternative fuel
With limited technological and financial capacity to anticipate and respond to the direct and indirect effects of climate change, yet dependent on climate sensitive sectors to meet their basic needs, communities in Ukraine must rely on their ability to adapt to constantly changing and challenging conditions. The Project demonstrates the possibility for local community to reduce dependence on fossil fuels by collecting of non-liquid wood cuttings and use of biomass as an energy efficient, environmentally friendly fuel. The research on the amount and use of non-liquid woods in Rivne region, conducted by the NGO “Active position” shows that there is a big potential to use non-liquid wood in Rivne region to produce alternative fuel from it’s biomass. The proposed community-based demonstration initiative will lead to promoting use of alternative fuel, as well as contribute to economic development of the region. The Project will contribute to the development of sustainable
energy and development solutions that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and protect local ecosystems. Number of new working places will be created for the local people, the involvement of the unemployed people in the Project implementation and after it’s completion in the established small business is foreseen.
