Sustainable Natural Resources Management and Livelihood Technologies for Women and Youth in Amanamta, Ohaukwu Iga, Ezzamgbo, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
Project objectives include; environmental sustainability, enhancing natural resource management, and livelihood enhancement. Due to the activities of felling trees for farming and fuel wood, most of the areas are now open, putting the environment in jeopardy. If a project is not implemented which will alter the behavior pattern of the communities, especially women, more harm will be done to the environment.

This project seeks to empower women in the use of alternative source of fuel and youths towards agro forestry establishment. CUAED is an environmental / educational organization whose targets are the women and youths at community level. The objective of this project is to preserve the natural fauna of Amanamta community by empowering them on alternative fuel consumption. This project is summarized into four major activities; namely, Environmental Education, Women Empowerment and CUAED Cooperative society, Agro-forestry Establishment, and CUAED-GEF Club Establishment.

This project followed a CDA meeting and problem identification. Project financing and implementation is a participatory one with a monitory and evaluation/ impact assessment plan. The project total cost is $50,000. Approved amount from GEF is $32,000, from which $28,000 will be spent in the first year while $4,000 in the second year. The community contribution is $14,000 while another $4,000 is the contribution of the participating organization.

The project will ensure a change in attitude of women who use fuel wood, and the men who are the farmers through awareness creation on the issues of Climate Change and biodiversity.
