Sustainable Land Management and Livelihood Improvement in Allan
With the difficult economic circumstance all over the world, Jordan is currently facing harsh economic conditions that assist in increasing poverty and unemployment. To moreover increase the harsh living conditions, Jordan is facing huge water scarcity problems. For that reason, this project will help support poor families in the area by providing means for water management and decreasing environmental degradation that will highly affect their agricultural dependence.

This project will therefore aim at decreasing environmental degradation in the Allan village of the Balqa Governorate, by providing ways to tackle water scarcity with rainwater harvesting systems and moreover increase the income of the families in the area by providing sustainable land management to improve income generating agricultural activities. Raising environmental awareness within the local community will furthermore enhance sustainable land management practices.

Notable Community Participation
Basmat Al Khair Women’s Charity Society was established in 2009 under the registration number of 1879 as a charity society and undertakes the following activities towards achieving its aims: 1. Increasing the awareness of the local community in the Allan village; 2. Conducting training sessions for soap making , other natural products and village hand crafts; 3. Participate in training activities provided by Charitable Societies and other NGOs; 4. Providing free medical consultation in cooperation with the University of Al Balqa; and Provide free clinical consultation for the detection of breast cancer with the cooperation of the King Hussien Cancer Centre.
