Promoting the sustainable use of natural resources at the community level in the Jarash Governorate
Promoting the sustainable use of natural resources at the community level in the Jarash Governorate
Jarash governorate is located to the north of Amman, an area full of history and is considered one of the most agricultural and tourist areas in the Kingdom. Agriculture is famous with olives, grapes and vegetables which grow in greenhouses. The local community is also known to raise cattle and sheep.

The economy of Jarash thrives on tourism and agriculture, where people find huge availability of fertile land near the city. The numbers of olive trees in Jarash are about a million and more than a quarter million are planted over 900 dunnums annually. These trees produce up to 500 kg of olives and are the main economic resource for the families in Jarash.

This project aims at contributing to the overall maintenance and control of land degradation and helps the local community implement land management procedures and enable them to acquire the knowledge and skills to manage natural resources in a sustainable manner. This in turn will result in improving the living condition of the local community in Jarash.
