Nadrala Village Watershed rehabilitation Initiative
Nadrala Village Watershed rehabilitation Initiative
Community-led Watershed Rehabilitation Project. The sustainability of the Nadrala Village Water Catchment Area is under threat due to ongoing unsustainable farming practices being implemented by community farmers and resource owners as well as the continuing threat of unsustainable logging practices. This Project targets the first of a phased approach to addressing water-related issues of the village. The core of the project targets an extensive rehabilitation of the watershed and forest areas in the immediate vicinity of the village. Project funding will also facilitate the promotion of sustainable agriculture and contour farming for farmers to address the deterioration of the water catchment area above the village as well as a rehabilitation and conservation programme targeting water sources eg. ponds and traditional wetland areas. The Project will also fund the demonstration of compost toilets for the village in lieu of the water-shortage problem faced by the community.
