Enhancing Persons with Disability responses & Participation in the Climate Change Mitigation
Enhancing Persons with Disability responses & Participation in the Climate Change Mitigation
This proposal seeks to address the participation of Persons with Disabilities in the climate change awareness issues in the overall emancipation and empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and immediate beneficiaries in the country. It looks at the place of the Persons with Disabilities with regards to environment. Should those with disabilities also think about development agendas that are affected by environment and climate change? Everyone has the right to take part in the issues affecting there environment in the country, directly or through freely chosen representatives. But, nowhere are persons with disability’s rights to participate in political and public life guaranteed better, than in the new comprehensive and integral international convention on the protection and promotion of the rights and dignity of Persons with Disabilities.
To this end UDEK area of focus will be on climate change geared to enhancing Persons with Disabilities participation on environmental awareness and processes
