the project is aimed mainly at strengthening the Prata Community Association of Wild Collectors and Craftspersons, by means of capacity-building activities, construction of the Prata Community house of handicrafts and exchange activities.
Jalapão is the largest area with continuous Cerrado vegetation, despite its sandy, erosion-prone soils, surrounded by large scale agriculture. The local population is extremely poor, an the main source of income is sales of golden grass handicrafts and buriti.
