“Conservation and effective use of Bioderversity through sustainable use of natural resources in Protected Area Kamarob, Rasht district”
The proposed project will be focusing on biodiversity conservation and protection within the natural reserve and protected areas, thereby promoting effective co-management of PA and sustainable use of the natural resources (flora and fauna) of PAs. The project team will also enhance the coordination of actions between local communities and government organizations, such as Forest Agency and Hunting and Committee of Environmental Protection under the GoT. The action-plan on co-management of PAs and effective use of the natural resources will be introduced by the project within the target area, thereby contributing to the biodiversity conservation within the PA, creating income-generating activities as well as improving livelihoods of rural population.
The main goal and objectives of the project are: i) to promote sustainable and effective use of the local biodiversity, ii) improve coordination and co-management of PA "Kamarob" in Rasht valley, iii) create income-generating activities, iv) promotion of RES technologies amongst rural population, thereby reducing anthropogenic impact and man-made/natural disasters.
Another important goal and objective of the project is to increase community resilience to climate risks (natural disasters) such as flashfloods, avalanches, mudslides due to heavy land degradation and overgrazing of pastures. The project will also provide alternative solutions to rehabilitate eroded hillslopes caused by livestock path and hay dropping descent.
