Correcção Torrencial da Zona de Lompelado
Lompelado is a small rural and farming community, with high potential for agriculture, located within the Monte Gordo Natural Park buffer zone. During the last decade or so, its lands have been under tremendous land use pressures, and obviously, soil erosion has been on the high. Soil erosion has also been exacerbated by the torrential rains of 2009 and 2010.
Given the importance that agriculture represents for the community, it is required to do run off corrections and restoration of agricultural land by building anti-erosion terraces, planting endemic plant species to sustain step slopes terrain, as well as construction of a dike to control torrential run off water.
The project will intent to beneficiate 35 people, including 10 women, with an investment of US 19.000. Direct beneficiaries will be farmers whose lands suffered from the 2009 rains. Indirect beneficiaries will be the community itself and the Monte Gordo Park.
