CONSERVATION FARMING AND TREE PLANTING
Nyimba District Farmers Association (NDFA) is a local-based voluntary membership organization, whose mission is to ?facilitate good governance among farming households for agricultural technological advancement, high productivity and increased well-being in a gender balanced and HIV/AIDS free environment?. Nyimba District Farmers Association is a registered local Non Governmental Organization (ORS/102/83/92) with the Registrar of Societies under the Societies Act number 119 of the laws of Zambia.
Nyimba DFA was formed in 1994 by a group of ten (10) farmers in Mtilizi Re-settlement Scheme in response to declining government support since the nation?s adoption of the liberalized policy in 1991. NDFA was formally registered in 2006 with the Registrar of Societies. The current membership of NDFA stands at 4,054 (49% Women and 51% Men) farmers and NDFA?s annual budget is K400, 398, 594 ($ 83,573)
.2. Project?s main objective
2.1 To reduce soil degradation and enhance sustainable management of natural resources through conservation farming and agro-forestry in Nyimba district.
3. Specific Objectives
3.1 To contribute to afforestation of trees in Nyimba District through effective and sustainable use of land and water by 2013
3.2 To cultivate a sustainable human and plant relationship that reciprocates the benefits of co- existence by 2013.
3.4 To create awareness on sustainable use of natural resources including environmental policy education in Nyimba District by December 2012.
